The geological story of the Andes

Research

Geochronology, metallogeny, and the evolution of mineral deposits in the Chilean Andes.

Research themes

Andean metallogeny

The distribution and origin of mineral deposits in the Andes, with particular emphasis on northern Chile and its porphyry copper and epithermal precious-metal deposits.

Geochronology and thermochronology

The timing of magmatism, mineralization, and cooling, using geological dating to understand the evolution of deposits and mountain belts.

Mineral exploration

Regional geological mapping, evaluation of exploration projects, and the geological context of copper and gold resources in Chile and other Andean countries.
